"His Grace, The Most Reverend Dr. Samuel Enosa Peni, Internal Archbishop of the Western Equatoria Internal Province in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, has issued a strong call for peace, unity, and an end to tribalism across Western Equatoria State and the nation at large.
Speaking on Thursday, 30th April 2026, during an Internal Provincial meeting of the House of Bishops held at St. Peter’s Cathedral in the Diocese of Nzara, Archbishop Peni urged citizens to embrace harmony and work collectively for lasting peace.
The high-level meeting, which he chaired, brought together bishops from across the Internal Province, that include: Bishop of Maridi Diocese, Ibba Diocese, Ezo Diocese, Nzara Diocese, Suffragan Bishop of Nadiangere and Gangura area Diocese. The leaders gathered to thank Almighty God, renew their commitment to serving their communities, and discuss the growth and development of churches within the dioceses of Western Equatoria.
The meeting was guided by a powerful theme drawn from Philippians 4:8: "Think about what is good and right in the site of God.” This message highlighted the responsibility of religious leaders to stand as witnesses to truth and to guide society toward peace, unity, and moral integrity.
Archbishop Peni emphasised that sustainable peace begins with individuals choosing unity over division, calling on all South Sudanese to reject tribalism and embrace their shared identity as one people."
