Salisbury Diocese is linked with the Episcopal Church of Sudan and South Sudan. Each Deanery is linked to a Diocese in these countries and the Wimborne Deanery is linked with Yambio and Nzara Diocese in Western Equatoria.
At Wimborne Minster we pray regularly for our partners in Yambio and Nzara. In January 2013 Revd Vanessa Herrick, the Minster Rector, Chris Tebbutt, Wimborne Rural Dean and Sheila Soper spent 2 weeks in Yambio & Nzara teaching & developing our partnership with the people there.
We took money from the Deanery for bicycles and motor bikes for the Pastors in Yambio & Nzara.
We are currently linking with the Rotary club in Wimborne and Rotary International to raise money for projects to repair the ECS primary school in Yambio and to help with health projects in Nzara. We are currently holding fund raising events to help fund students at the Bishop Gwynne Theological College in Juba.
Members of the Salisbury Sudan Medical Link visit South Sudan to deliver medical supplies. Lunch and Chat lunches are served twice a month on Fridays in Church House to raise money for the Medical link which raises around £2,000 per year.
