The Anglican Churches of Poole & North Bournemouth Deanery has linked with the Diocese of Wau, South Sudan since 2011. Their principal aim is to support the work of Wau Diocese in all it's different forms, including financial support for practical projects. The Partnership was formally established in February 2011, inspired by a visit to the UK in 2010 by Rt Rev Moses Deng Bol, Bishop of Wau (now also Archbishop of Northern Bahr el-Ghazal province).
Poole - Wau Partnership aims to share our lives with our sisters and brothers inhe Diocese of Wau - by means of prayer, by e-mail, by visiting when circumstances allow, all of which can work both ways; and by financial aid which is inevitably one way.
Prayer has always been an important part of the life of the Poole - Wau Partnership and we hold monthly Prayer Meetings.
The Partnership develops and sends out a newsletter to all their supporters.
Here are some headlines from their End of Year Newsletter 2024: -
- The Partnership sent out £800 each to Warrup and to Wanjyok to help fund relief for flood victims. In addition, a generous donor provided a further £750 to support flood relief.
- February 2025 a visit is planned by the Poole Wau Partnership - the first since 2018. News of the visit has been warmly welcomed by their friends Wau including Phillip Abiel, Principal of St Johns College who says, "You are highly welcome and we will make all possible arrangements to receive you all and the subsequent programmes."
- An update will be reported on the website when available.
